Information about AB 60- Driver’s Licenses for undocumented immigrants in CA

The San Diego Dream Team, along with other organizations, will have educational forums to inform communities about AB 60.

“Beginning January 1, 2015, any eligible California resident will be able to receive a driver’s license, regardless of immigration status. An applicant who does not have a social security number or proof of lawful presence will receive an AB 60 license, which will have a visible distinguishing feature (to be determined).”- http://driveca.org

North County Community Gathering

community-gatheringWe invite you to our next community gathering, open to everyone. Recently, we have heard of cases where border patrol has stopped and questioned people about their status. We have also heard that these agents have also been waiting outside of people’s homes and apartments. As a response, we are hosting our gathering, where we will include a Know Your Rights workshop for when you or someone you love encounters border patrol. We will also be talking about our plan to help create a deportation defense network.

1st Annual UndocuYouth Conference

This event will seek to provide resources to undocumented youth, families and allies along with serving as a platform to engage undocumented youth in community advocacy, and to create the new generation of community leaders.

Executive Actions on Immigration

These initiatives include:

  • Expanding the population eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program to young people who came to this country before turning 16 years old and have been present since January 1, 2010, and extending the period of DACA and work authorization from two years to three years | Details
  • Allowing parents of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents who have been in the country since January 1, 2010, to request deferred action and employment authorization for three years, in a new Deferred Action for Parental Accountability program, provided they pass required background checks | Details
  • Expanding the use of provisional waivers of unlawful presence to include the spouses and sons and daughters of lawful permanent residents and the sons and daughters of U.S. citizens | Details
  • Modernizing, improving and clarifying immigrant and nonimmigrant programs to grow our economy and create jobs | Details
  • Promoting citizenship education and public awareness for lawful permanent residents and providing an option for naturalization applicants to use credit cards to pay the application fee | Details
